NICOL SCALES, LP an ISO 17025 Accredited Calibration Company, sells, services and rents weighing, force measuring, and material testing equipment as well as complete systems.  The company also designs and sells batching control and bar code systems that may or may not include weighing equipment.

Founded in 1948 by the Nicol family as the William F. Nicol Distributing Company, Nicol Scales initially focused on food equipment and scales.  As the company grew, concentration was placed on the industrial and commercial weighing markets as well as force measurement and custom control systems. Today, Nicol Scales is owned and managed by former COO and longtime employee of the company, Ted Tobolka. The company’s core business has remained focused on the industrial and commercial markets, providing weighing and testing products as well as service/calibration support throughout Texas, the United States and abroad.

SERVICES OFFERED - NICOL SCALES LP has four(4) divisions as follows:
            Weighing, Force Measuring and Material Testing Division
This division sells and services weighing products that measure from a tenth of a microgram to 500 tons as well as force/material testing equipment from a tenth of a gram to 50 tons.  All industries use our equipment.For example:

• Zoos to weigh their animals, birds and reptiles.
• Highway departments to check truck weights and even the HOV lane vehicle.
• Computer industry to checkweigh cartons for missing components.
• Electronics industry to count small resistors and other parts.
• Food industry to batch bread and potato chips or to assure that ingredients on a pizza are measured correctly.
• Construction industry to mix asphalt and concrete.

Our measuring devices test the amount of force needed to break the tiles on the Space Shuttle, push the hole out of a voting card, or force required to insert a computer chip into an electronic board.  Some of the manufacturers represented include Fairbanks, B-Tek, Ametek, Rice LakeWeighing, A&D, Digi, Pennsylvania, GSE/General, Chatillon, Ohaus, Setra, Sartorius, and Intercomp.  All products are supported by a Professional Sales and Services Team.

•   Service Division  (An Accredited ISO 17025 Calibration Lab)
  This division installs, calibrates and repairs all capacities and types of weighing equipment and test equipment.  These professional offer years of experience in both diagnostics and repairs of weighing and test equipment.  The factory trained, Licensed Technicians have the capabilities of supporting products ranging from a micro gram up to 1 million pounds.  Documentation and ISO 9000 needs are unique to all customers and Nicol Scale’s Service Division is trained to meet your needs.  In addition, the division has a 20,000 lb. weight truck used for calibratingheavy capacity scales.  Nicol Scale’s service division was the first scale company in the State of Texas to qualify to operate as a Licensed Weight and Measurement Company.

•   Systems Division
  This division custom designs and sells computerized batching, inventory and bar code control systems.  The Nicol Scales Systems Group includes an in-house Programmer and Applications Specialist.  Projects have included basic bar coding with counting scales for inventory control, automatic glue batching systems utilizing touch screens, in-motion weighing systems, and an air craft weighing system calculating the center of gravity of air craft.  Manufacturers represented include Allen Bradley, Intermac, PCS, GE FANUC Programmable Logic Controllers, Intellusion, Digi and Weigh-Tronix.

•   Rental Division
  This division has over 300 rental scales in a variety of capacities including both electronic and mechanical.  These scales include bench, floor, counting, crane, portable truck and axle weighing scales.  All available for a short or long term rental program.
